Agent Mode

Have a question? Ask ChatGPT Ask Claude

Agent Mode is for apps that need more than a website. Instead of building inside SKAEL’s managed website stack, the AI works as a full agent in its own development environment — it can install what it needs, run commands, run its own backend and verify its work in a live sandbox.

Not sure? Pick Regular — the AI adds a backend when your app needs one.

  1. On the dashboard, describe your app and press Enter.
  2. In How should we build this app?, choose Agent Mode and press Build.

Dashboard → Agents is the control room for your agent:

Overview

The current turn (with Stop), the sandbox (with Restart sandbox), turn history with AI level and credits, and checkpoints you can restore.

Instructions

Standing instructions for the agent, kept in your project as .skael/AGENTS.md.

Memory

What the agent remembers between turns (.skael/memory.md). Clear memory to start fresh.

Skills

Reusable skills in .skael/skills/. Turn each one on or off.

Settings

Default AI level, the step limit per turn, and whether the agent may run commands.

  • The workspace’s Labs tab and Dynamic Backend are for Regular apps; Agent Mode apps manage their own data.
  • The Startup tab shows how the sandbox started — provisioning, installing, ready — and the error output if it didn’t.
  • Direct point-and-edit changes wait while the agent is working.
  • Agent turns use AI credits, and building the app’s container uses your plan’s build time, like any app.
